Last Friday I attended a talk given by Patrick Morris, a BBC wildlife producer and filmmaker in Topsham. Organised by Hospiscare to help raise funds, Matthew’s Hall was packed for what was an interesting look into his work. Most recently Patrick has produced two episodes for the ’Life’ series, focusing on Birds and Primates. We were treated to a couple of hours of stunning images and film clips as well as a fascinating look into the two years the project took to complete. Not forgetting the essential glass of wine. There was even a draw for six signed books, as usual my ticket was not picked, ho hum!
If you missed the series then get the DVD as it is well worth watching. The BBC website has a wealth of information on the life series and is worth a look and the book of the series has a selection of amazing images and well worth a look.
The BBC’s integrated approach to sharing information is fascinating, a series such as Life has a global market for distribution and is backed up by an online presence and printed materials, there was even a collaboration with CBBC. It is a good example on how to reach an audience through multiple channels and it is something the BBC does well.
